HPC connection function status is generated in order to provide VC-ns connectivity among
input and output ports. The assignment of incoming VC-ns to outgoing VC-ns is defined as the
'connection pattern' which can be described by a uni-directional connection matrix and
characterized by:
Type of connection:
unprotected,
1+1 protected by means of SNCP/I, SNCP/N, SNCP/S protection (the last two are
not operative in current release)
protected by means of Label Based Restoration by using the label protocol defined
in K3 byte
Traffic direction (unidirectional, bi-directional).
Input and output connection points.
3.4.1.2.2 SDH HO matrix logical implementation
From the logical point of view, the functions implemented in the matrix board aim to the fulfillment of the
ITU-T G.783 functional model.
Such functions are the so called "virtual images" of MSPC and HVC functions, described as follows.
MSPC "virtual image" function: according to the MSPC switch status, this function conditions
the information, carried via in band signaling, collected by physical MSA Sk and HVC functions
located in the port board, in "before matrix" configuration. MSA Sk and HVC "before matrix"
reporting results as if it were performed after the MSPC switch, as foreseen by ITU-T G.783
functional model
1/MSPC "virtual image" function: according to the MSPC switch status, this function conditions
the information, carried via in band signaling, collected by physical HVC functions located in
the port board, in "after matrix" configuration. HVC "after matrix" reporting results as if it were
performed after the MSPC switch, as foreseen by ITU-T G.783 functional model. The notation
1/MSPC means that the performed action is the corresponding inverse operation with respect
to MSPC.
HVC "virtual image" function: this function performs alarm F4 filtering and reporting, 1 second
performance monitoring reporting and remote indications management. Note that the physical
insertion of the remote indications in SDH POH is performed in the port board by HVC "physical
functions".
Figure 41. on page 78 shows the virtual images functions integrated in the matrix board. The characteristic
information processed by each atomic function is composed of the information collected by the physical
HVC functions. It has to be noted that no payload processing is performed by "virtual image" functions.
