3.8.2 AUX channels architecture
Not available in current release
The internal architecture handling the Auxiliary channels (AUX) supported by the OH bytes associated
to the different service signals supported is depicted in Figure 87. on page 141.

The purpose of this architecture is to support the termination and the cross-connection of the different
types of AUX's associated to the services supported by the equipment: specifically, Auxiliary channels
may be cross-connected, on byte basis, independently from the payload connectivity, by the Service
board.
–
The AUX's are dropped/inserted by the port associated to the specific service:
•
in SDH WDM ports a specific 'TDM framer' block is implemented, in order to realize the
adaptation of terminated OH bytes to the internal AUX frame format.
–
The physical communication between each SDH (WDM) port and 'Service' board is based on 1 TDM
full duplex link. The AUX switching functionality is located on 'Service' board
–
The AUX switching functionality is located on 'Service' board
–
The configured connectivity interesting the SDH, WDM AUX channels, may be either a cross-
connection between Ports or a termination towards one of the 'physical accesses' provided by
