The Equipment Controller board (EC320) is based on a PQ3/MC1-B module equipped with 2 Gigabytes
of DDR RAM with a Linux operating system.
The First Level Controller exports 3 LAN interfaces. Two of these interfaces are connected to the
redundant LAN switches resident on the second level controller boards (UNIVERSAL MATRIX boards"
MT320").
The third LAN is directly connected to the redundant equipment controller board (EC320 spare) and has
the functionality of a dedicated channel usable, for instance for re-synchronization and alignment of
databases.
The First Level Controller detect the presence of all the boards that can host a microprocessor in order
to be able to distinguish a state in which communication is in fault from a state in which the board is not
present. Thus FLCs receive only the card-ins of the electronic shelf and not card-ins of the access panel.
Card-in are collected by the PSF boards, Card-in information is serialized and communicated to the First
Level Controller using a serial interface. Data are de-serialized by Cannonau and are read by PQ3/MC1-
B module.
The access to ECC channels is also performed.
On the EC320 boards is also present an Hard Disk (40 Gbytes); the HD can be accessed by both the
microprocessor equipped on EC320 main and spare.
The download of a SW package containing the executable code of the FLC board is possible in two distinct
contexts:
off-line: the download is made before the first delivery.
on-line: the download can be made while the network element is working via Craft Terminal,
Remote Craft Terminal or remote Management System.
Craft terminal access is implemented using both USB 2.0 and F interfaces. Connectors for both interfaces
are located on front of the Equipment Controller board (EC320).
