The matrix board hosts 2 LAN switches:
One Fast Ethernet LAN switch used to implement the internal LAN and the Q3 access
One Gigabit Ethernet LAN switch to implement the Drop Shelf sub-network.
Falco4G performs hardware retrieval of performance monitoring data only for SDH functionality and in
future could provide this feature also for WDM functionality.
The matrix board exports 4 SPI-like interfaces.
ISC A is a serial interface for local access (via local Spider Asic) and remote access of boards
located in the electronic shelf. Via the local spider it is possible to access matrix remote
inventory, the Gigabit Ethernet chip and the low order matrix block.
ISC B: Interface in input to allow remote access from the other Matrix board.
SC C: Allows remote access to the boards located in the access panel (not in current release)
SPI_WDM: It gives the access at the all the WDM boards. This interface is also used for FAN
management.

Card-in functionality is provided by Falco4G. Falco 4G receives the serialized card-in information sent by
both PSF units located in the electronic shelf. The presence of the PSF/PSU units is directly perceived
by Falco4G with dedicated wires. Falco4G de-serializes the information and provides access to the data
via PCI interface.
