MAINTENANCE
Lubricate the drive chain with # 80 - 90 gear oil or drive chain
lubricant designed specifically for use with 0-ring chains. Wipe
off the excess oil or chain l u bricant.
SPROCKETS INSPECTION
Inspect the drive and driven sprocket teeth for wear or dam-
age, replace
if
necessary.
Never use a new drive chain on worn sprockets.
Both chain and sprockets must be in good condition, or the
new replacement chain will wear rapidly.

Do not remove the cover or cap unless the reservoir is
level because ffuld may sp/11 out.
Do not mix different types of fluid, as they are not
com-
patible with each other.
Do not allow foreign material
lo
enter the system when
filling the reservoir.
A void spllllng ffuld on painted, plastic or rubber parts.
Place a rug over these parts whenever the system is ser-
viced.
NOTE:
When the fluid level i s low, check the brake pads for wear
(page: 3-17). A low fluid l e vel may be due to wear of the
brake pads. If the brake pads are warn, the caliper piston
i n pushed out, and this accounts for a low reservoir l e vel.
If the brake pads are not warn and the fluid level is l o w,
check entire system for l e aks (page 3-18).
Do not remove the l e vel float from the reservoir when fill-
i n g with brake fluid.
FRONT BRAKE
Turn the handlebar so that the reservoir i s l e vel and check
the front brake reservoir fluid level through the sight glass. If
lhe l e vel i s near the l o wer level mark, remove the screws,
cover, set plate, diaphragm and fill the reservoir with DOT 3
or 4 brake fluid from a sealed container to the casting l e dge.
Refer to page 14-4 for brake fluid replacement/bleeding pro-
cedures.
