REAR WHEEL/SUSPENSION
Wheel bearing
Turn the i n ner race of each bearing with your finger.
Bearings should turn smoothly and quietly. Also check that
lhe bearing outer race fits lightly in lhe hub.
Remove and discard the bearings if the races do not turn
smoothly and quietly, or i f they fil loosely i n the hub.
NOTE:
Replace the wheel bearings i n pairs.
WHEEL BEARING
Driven sprocket
Check the condition of the final driven sprocket teeth.
Replace the sprocket i f worn or damaged.
BRAKE DISC
OK NO GOOD
NOTE:
If the final driven sprocket requires replacement, inspect
the drive chain and drive sprocket.
Never i n stall a new drive chain on a worn sprocket or a
warn chain on new sprockets. Bolh chain and sprocket must
be i n good condition or the replacement chain or sprocket
will wear rapidly.
Wheel balance
CAUTION:
Wheel balance directly affects the stability, handling and over
all safety of the motorcycle.
Always check balance when the tire has been removed from
the rim.
NOTE:
For optimum balance, the tire balance mark (a painl dot on
the side wall) must be aligned wheel side and tire side. Re-
mount lhe lire if necessary.
Check the rotating direction mark on the tire.
