ENGINEIDLESPEED
If the engine must be running to do some work, make sure
the area is well-ventilated. Never run the engine in an en-

death. Run the engine in an open area or with an exhaust
evacuation system In an enclosed area.
NOTE:
Perform this maintenance with the engine at normal oper-
ating temperature and transmission i n neutral. Place the
motorcycle on a level surface.
Engine must be warm for accurate adjustment.
Ten minutes of stop-and-go riding i s sufficient.
Warm up the engine and shift the transmission into neutral.
Place the motorcycle on its side stand.

screw control knob it necessary.
IDLE SPEED: 1,400 ± 100 mirr" (rpm)
SECONDARY AIR SUPPLY SYSTEM
NOTE:
The secondary air supply system introduces filtered air i n to
exhaust gases in the exhaust port. The secondary air is
drawn i n to the exhaust port whenever there is negative
pressure pulse in the exhaust system. This charged
secondary air promotes burning of the unburned exhaust
gases and changes a considerable amount of hydrocarbons
and carbon monoxide into relatively harmless carbon
dioxide and water.
