FRONT WHEEL/SUSPENSION/STEERING
FORK TUBE/SLIDER/FORK PISTON
Check the fork tube, slider and fork piston for score marks,
and excessive or abnormal wear.
FORK TUBE

Check the fork piston ring for wear or damage.
Check the rebound spring for fatigue or damage.
Replace the component

necessary.
Set the fork tube in V-blocks and measure the fork tube runout
rotating i t with a dial i n dicator.
Actual runout is 1 /2 the total indicator reading.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.20
mm
(0.008
in)
Replace i f the service l i mit i s exceeded, or there are scratches
or nicks that will allow fork oil to leak past the seals.
NOTE:
Do not reuse the fork tube i f i t cannot be perfectly straightened
with minimal effort.

BUSHING
Visually i n spect the slider bushings.
Replace the bushings i f there is excessive scoring or
scratching, or if the teflon i s worn so that the copper surface
appears on more 3/4 of the entire surface.
Check the back-up ring: replace it if there i s any distortion at
the point shown.
