Baseline Allocation

Baseline Penetration

A penetration occurs when the signal drops below the constructed baseline
(point a in
Figure 12
on page 91). If a baseline penetration occurs, that part of
the baseline is generally reconstructed, as shown by points b in
Figure 12
on
page 91.

Baseline Penetration
You can use the following tracking options to remove all baseline penetrations:
Classical Baseline Tracking (no penetrations)
When this option is selected, each peak cluster is searched for baseline
penetrations. If penetrations are found, the start and/or end points of the
peak are shifted until there are no penetrations left (compare the baselines in
Figure 12
on page 91 and
Figure 13
on page 92).
