Xerox Status Reporting Considerations

Before sending a Spooler job to the Xerox printer, FASTPXNS solicits the status of the
Xerox printing system to ascertain if the job can be safely sent. This solicitation is done
as part of the session establishment sequence.
The status of three basic Xerox printing system components are of interest to
FASTPXNS:
The spooler, which receives jobs and queues them on disk.
The formatter, which converts the jobs into the native Xerox format.
The print engine, which prints the jobs.
By default, FASTPXNS only reports status that is likely to impair the successful
delivery of Spooler jobs. However, if DEV PARM 2 is set on, FASTPXNS reports Xerox
status regardless.
The most important status is Xerox spooler status. This determines if jobs can be
received.

device is not ready.
