,EMS
generates an EMS event when the associated response string matches the
response from the printer. If this value is specified, and a match occurs, an
EMS event is generated using the actual response text from the printer. To
avoid flooding of EMS messages, only one such EMS event is generated every
10 minutes during each print job. This feature can call attention to conditions
that require operator intervention, such as out of paper.
"resp-string"
specifies a string to match against incoming SNMP responses. The string can
consist of up to 50 bytes of any displayable characters, except for quotes (")
or hex 22 and is always specified within quotation marks (""). Alphabetic
characters are always shifted to uppercase before the comparison is
performed. Special characters, such as quotes and carriage returns, can be
represented by a backslash followed by two hexadecimal digits.
For example, the following two strings are equivalent:
"A-B-C"
If the length of the SNMP response is different than the RESPONSE
parameter, the comparison is only performed up to the length of the shorter
string. Therefore, a short RESPONSE parameter can match multiple printer
responses that all begin with the same starting text. If no RESPONSE
parameters match the printer response, the OTHERWISE parameter is
matched.
OTHERWISE = fecode [,EMS]
specifies the Guardian file code and optionally an EMS message to be used if no
RESPONSE values match the printer response. The fecode and EMS parameters
have the same meanings for OTHERWISE as they do for RESPONSE.
