Setting Control and Job Information

As with any other Spooler printer, in addition to the Spooler subsystem and
FASTCNFG configuration parameters discussed above, you also can alter printer
operations by embedding printer-control operations (CONTROL, CONTROLBUF, and
SETMODE) within a Spooler FONT job and by using the Spoolcom or Peruse JOB and
BATCH commands. This information can augment or replace some of the information
present in the FASTCNFG file. All job-supplied information only affects the current job.

Using the CONTROL, CONTROLBUF, and SETMODE Operations

The FASTP network print processes process the following CONTROL, CONTROLBUF
and SETMODE operations if they encounter them within Spooler data. These
operations enable forms control and other specialized output functions for job
customization.
In particular, CONTROLBUF operations extend normal job preparation for the FASTP
network print processes; for example, a FONT job containing CONTROLBUF, and
other relevant control strings is typically used to build a Spooler location for special job
attributes.
The remainder of this subsection discusses the use of these operations with the
FASTP network print processes. Note that some CONTROL, CONTROLBUF and
SETMODE operations have special considerations when used with a specific FASTP
network print process. These considerations are described in the product-specific
sections of this manual.
CONTROL 1 Operations
A FASTP network print process responds to the CONTROL 1 (Printer Forms Control)
operation parameters described in
cause the CONTROL operation to be ignored.
