Troubleshooting and Using the Trace Facility
TYPE E
specifies that the shadow trace file is an entry-sequenced Enscribe file.
REC 4000
specifies file has a record size of 4000 bytes.
EXT (n,n)
specifies the primary and secondary file extent sizes of the file. The values
specified depend on the amount of file space required. An extent consists of 2048
bytes.
A maximum of eight shadow trace files can be created for each device.
Note. For FASTPNOV, FASTPSMB, FASTPX25, and FASTPXNS shadow trace files must be
manually created, as described here, prior to their use.
For FASTPTCP, the shadow trace file does not need to be created prior to use. If the specified
shadow trace file already exists, FASTPTCP attempts to purge the file. If the shadow trace file
does not exist or the purge is successful, FASTPTCP automatically creates an unstructured
(new format) shadow trace file. If the purge is not successful, FASTPTCP attempts to use the
existing file in the form based on the file's type (new format, if unstructured; old format, if
otherwise.)
