Placement
3 In the MAC Address box, type the MAC address of the radio.
4 To enable the radio, select Enabled.
The access point's radio must be enabled in order to be considered in
channel allocation.
5 In the Transmit Power box, specify the transmit power for the radio.
6 In the Antenna Gain list, select the antenna gain for the radio.
7 In the Channel Number list, select the channel number for the radio.
8 In the SSID box, type the service set identifier (SSID) for the radio.
9 If the access point has only one radio, click Finish. Otherwise, go to
step 10.
10 Click Next. The Radio A page appears.
11 Repeat step 2 through step 8 for the 802.11a radio.
12 Click Finish to save the changes.
Moving the AP Icon to its Floor Location
When you finish creating a third-party AP, 3WXM places an icon for the
AP on the Objects To Place tab for the floor, from which you can move it
to its location.
1 In the Building wizard, navigate to the floor where the AP is located.
2 Navigate to the Plan RF Coverage page.
3 Click Objects To Place to display the tab.
4 Click on the AP icon, then click on the location where the AP is located.
The AP moves from the Objects To Place tab to its location on the floor.
After you provide information about floor plans, RF obstacles, and
wireless coverage requirements, 3WXM can design your 3Com wireless
network for this floor using the following process:
Compute and place MAP access points (See "Computing and Placing
MAP Access Points for a Coverage Area" on page 152.)
Compute optimal power (See "Computing Optimal Power" on
page 162.)
Assign channels to MAP access points (See "Assigning MAP
Channels" on page 164.)
