Using the Explore
Window
3 Do one of the following:
Select View > Monitor or View > Monitor in new Window from
the toolbar in the main 3WXM window.
Right-click on the object and select Monitor or Monitor in new
Window from the pulldown list.
The Monitor tab appears in the Content panel.
Each option in step 3 displays monitored data for the selected object.
However, the data in the windows opened by the View > Monitor or
Monitor option changes when you select another object. The data is
always for the currently selected object. The data in the window opened
by the View > Monitor in new Window or Monitor in new Window
option remains focused on the object that was selected when the
windows were opened.
You can distinguish between the two Monitor tabs by looking at the tab
titles. The title shown in bold text is the tab that changes when you select
a different object. The other tab's title is not bold, and that tab remains
focused on the same object until you close the tab, regardless of the
objects you select in the Organizer panel.
The Explore window shows the status of 3Com equipment within the
scope of the object selected in the Mobility Domains or Sites section of
the Organizer panel.
If you select a Mobility Domain or WX switch, 3WXM presents a
link-based view of the equipment. You can hide or redisplay the MAP
access point connections on a WX switch by clicking on the minus
sign or plus sign in the right corner of the object. Likewise, you can
hide or redisplay the WX switches in a Mobility Domain.
If you select a MAP access point or a radio, the floor plan containing
the MAP or radio is displayed. The floor plan also is displayed if you
select the floor or you select a wiring closet, coverage area, MAP, or
radio on the floor.
Floor views are available only if you add the floor to the site information
in the network plan.
