ONITORING THE
ETWORK
To enable the service to monitor network data, you or the monitoring
services administrator must specify the WX switches to monitor. The
monitoring service collects data from the switches and updates the
information in the windows of the Monitor tab.
By default, the monitoring service supplies data only to the Explore and
Status Summary windows. This data is refreshed at regular intervals,
according to the polling interval configured on the monitoring service.
The default polling interval is 5 minutes.
Optionally, you can enable the monitoring service to supply data to the
Client Monitor, RF Monitor, and RF Trends windows. This option requires
the following:
Polling of client and RF data must be enabled on the monitoring
service.
For event data, the corresponding SNMP traps must be enabled on the
WX switches, both on the monitoring service and on the switches
themselves. Also, the monitoring service must be a trap receiver for
the switches.
For the Client Status window, the Client Monitor options must be
enabled.
For the RF Trends and RF Status windows, the RF Monitor options must be
enabled.
(To configure the monitoring service, see "Selecting WX Switches to
Monitor" on page 545 and "Changing Monitoring Settings" on
page 552. To enable SNMP traps on WX switches, see "Configuring
SNMP" on page 214.)
Data provided by the monitoring service is displayed in the Monitor tab,
in the Content panel. The information displayed in the Monitor tab is
based on data supplied by the 3WXM monitoring service. To access the
data, 3WXM client must have a connection with the monitoring service.
1 Enable 3WXM to access the monitoring service, if you have not already
done so. (See "Enabling 3WXM Client To Access the Monitoring Service"
on page 537.)
2 Select an object in the Organizer panel.
