ONITORING ERVICE
The monitoring service requires configuration before it can provide data
to the 3WXM client. See the other sections in this chapter.
1 Select Monitor -> Service Selection from the toolbar in the main
3WXM window. The Monitor Service Selection wizard appears.
2 Select Enable monitoring, if it is not already selected.
3 Enter the IP address or fully-qualified hostname of the machine on which
the service is installed.
If the service is installed on the same machine as the one you are using to
run 3WXM, enter 127.0.0.1 as the IP address. This is a standard IP
loopback address.
4 Specify the service port, if different from the port number in the Service
Port listbox.
The port number used by the monitoring service must not be used by
another application on the machine where the monitoring service is
installed. If the port number is used by another application, change the
port number on the monitoring service. (See "Changing Service Settings"
on page 542.)
