70 Chapter 5: Matrox 4Sight-II hardware reference

Video input port

Digitized data from the Matrox Orion module for 4Sight-II is transferred from
its pixel converter to the Matrox G450 graphics controller along an 8-bit video
input port (VIP) bus.

AGP interface

Display data is transferred along a 2X AGP interface, between the Matrox G450
graphics controller and the chipset's north bridge. It is transferred at 532
Mbytes/sec.

DualHead capability

The DualHead display capability allows the controller to output to two displays
simultaneously. This is made possible by two independent CRT controllers. The
primary CRT controller enables the display device connected to analog VGA
connector #1 or to the DVI-compliant digital VGA connector, and the secondary
CRT controller enables the secondary display device connected to analog VGA
connector #2.
The DualHead capability includes several features:
• DualHead Multi-Display. This feature allows you to extend your Windows
Desktop so that it spans across a second monitor. Note that this is referred to as
a multi-head display configuration in MIL documentation.
• DualHead Clone. This feature allows you to view a copy of your main display on
your secondary display device. Each display can use different monitor settings.
• DualHead Zoom. This feature allows you to view a zoomed-in (magnified)
portion of your main display on your secondary display device. Each display can
use different monitor settings.
Various operating systems make use of Matrox DualHead features while running.
MIL and MIL-Lite also use Matrox DualHead, to output an auxiliary display to
1
a second device
.
1. Refer to your software manual for information on display capabilities supported by
your operating system, and refer to the MIL/MIL-Lite documentation for informa-
tion on displaying images on an auxiliary device.
