138 Appendix B: BIOS reference
Executing
Phoenix Phlash
The utility requires the following files:
File Name
phlash.exe
ftabbccc.rom
platform.bin
If you have purchased the Matrox 4Sight-II integrated unit, all of the necessary
files can be found in the \BIOS directory of the hard disk. The partition on which
the \BIOS directory is stored varies from one operating system to another.
If you have purchased the Matrox 4Sight-II motherboard, and are supplying your
own hard disk, you must copy all the files found in the \BIOS directory of the
Matrox 4Sight-II System Drivers and Utilities CD into a \BIOS directory on the
hard disk, to run Phoenix Phlash. For some operating systems, the contents of the
\BIOS directory can be included directly in the configuration you build for your
operating system.
Follow these steps to update your computer BIOS:
1. If you are using FreeDOS, skip to step 4.
2. If you are using your own DOS-compatible operating system, turn off your unit,
and connect the device from which your operating system will boot. Please refer
to Chapter 3: Adding devices to the Matrox 4Sight-II motherboard, for more
information.
3. Turn on your unit, and press Esc during POST to access the boot-device selector
utility. For more information on this utility, please refer to the section Overriding
the device sequence, earlier in this chapter.
Select the device that will boot the DOS-compatible operating system, and press
Enter.
Once the operating-system has started, skip to step 8.
4. To start FreeDOS, turn on your unit. Soon after POST, you will have to choose
which operating system to boot.
