122 Appendix B: BIOS reference
Important
The parallel port will automatically be disabled and will not be accessible if:
- You identify a floppy disk drive, using the Legacy Diskette A: menu item from
the Main menu.
- The Floppy controller on LPT port menu item is set to Auto or Enabled.
Therefore, if you need to use the parallel port, be sure that the above menu items
are both set to Disabled, and the parallel port's setting has been re-configured to
Enabled or Auto before exiting the Setup program.
• Mode:
This item allows you to select the data transfer mode through the parallel port
interface.
Options:
- Uni-directional
- Bi-directional (default)
- ECP - Extended Capabilities Port
- EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port
• Floppy controller on LPT port:
This item allows you to enable or disable the floppy disk controller, which
configures the parallel port to act as a floppy disk drive interface.
Select Enabled to remap the parallel port to act as a floppy disk controller, and
then select the base I/O address. Select Auto to remap the parallel port to act as a
floppy disk controller and have the BIOS select the floppy drive's base address
during POST. Select Disabled to disable the floppy disk controller.
