Important
Types of POST errors
You should run Matrox ProgBIOS from a DOS-compatible operating system.
Follow these steps to update the BIOS of the Matrox G450 graphics controller:
1. Restart your unit.
2. Boot FreeDOS or DOS-compatible operating system as previously detailed.
3. At the command prompt, change to the X:\BIOS directory by typing: X: followed
by CD \bios. Replace X with the partition on which the \BIOS directory is located.
For example, if the \BIOS directory is found on the C:\ partition, type C: followed
by CD \bios at the prompt.
4. Type Vga4s2.
Matrox ProgBios will update or replace the current VGA BIOS on your unit with
the more recent VGA BIOS image found in the \BIOS directory.
5. Turn off your unit and unplug the power-supply from the unit for at least thirty
seconds.
6. Turn on your unit and reboot your main operating system.

BIOS messages and diagnostic codes

When Matrox 4Sight-II is booted, a power-on self-test (POST) is performed by the
BIOS. Once all the tasks are completed, the BIOS will proceed to boot the
operating system. If a task cannot be completed, POST will report an error to the
BIOS.
There are two types of errors: recoverable and terminal errors.
Recoverable errors are non-fatal errors whose description will be displayed on
screen. In addition to being informed of the error, you will be prompted to either
change the erroneous setting by entering Setup, or continue with the boot process.
You can disable the display of recoverable error messages by changing the setting
of the POST Errors menu item found in the Boot menu.
