Updating the Matrox 4Sight-II computer BIOS

Before using your Matrox 4Sight-II unit, it is recommended that you verify that
the computer BIOS installed on your unit is up to date. If the version stamp of
the BIOS installed on the Matrox 4Sight-II unit is less recent than the Matrox
4Sight-II System Drivers and Utilities CD BIOS file, it is recommended that you
update to the newer version, using the provided utility called Phoenix Phlash. The
Phoenix Phlash utility is described in greater detail further on in this section.
To verify whether the BIOS installed on your Matrox 4Sight-II unit is up to date,
do the following:
1. Turn on your Matrox 4Sight-II unit. The version of the computer BIOS currently
installed on your unit will be displayed in the upper-left corner of the screen during
the Power-On Self Test (POST). It will state a version stamp similar to
FT-A.BB.CCC. Use the Break key on your keyboard to pause the POST so that
you can verify the version of your BIOS. Note that you must press the Break key
within the first few seconds after your unit is turned on. Press Enter to return to
POST.
2. Compare the version of BIOS installed with the version of the computer BIOS
file found on the Matrox 4Sight-II System Drivers and Utilities CD. The BIOS
file name (similar to ftabbccc.rom) indicates the BIOS version number. The \BIOS
directory of the Matrox 4Sight-II System Drivers and Utilities CD contains the
latest release of the Matrox 4Sight-II BIOS.

The Phoenix Phlash utility

You can use the Phoenix Phlash utility to update the computer BIOS. This utility
should be run from a DOS-compatible operating system. If you have purchased
the Matrox 4Sight-II integrated unit, FreeDOS is included on your hard disk. If
you have purchased the Matrox 4Sight-II motherboard, you can use a
DOS-compatible operating system, or you can install FreeDOS, which is included
on the Matrox 4Sight-II System Drivers and Utilities CD. For more information
on installing FreeDOS, please refer to the software manual.
Use FreeDOS only to execute the commands specified in this manual. Any other
task should be performed while operating under your standard operating system.
The outcome of executing other commands under FreeDOS has not been verified,
and Matrox cannot guarantee the integrity of your unit should you decide to use
them.
