Matrox Orion
modules for 4Sight-II

Memory

Computer memory is provided via a 168-pin DIMM slot, which supports
modules up to 1 Gbyte in size. 32 Mbytes of video memory is connected to the
Matrox G450 graphics chip, and a 256 Kbyte flash memory device stores the
BIOS.

Optional components

You can purchase additional components for Matrox 4Sight-II, which if
purchased, will arrive pre-installed in the integrated unit. A description of each
device is outlined below.

Matrox opto-coupling module

The Matrox opto-coupling module replaces the external auxiliary I/O connector.
It electrically protects Matrox 4Sight-II from external I/O devices connected to
it, by optically isolating the external device, and acting as its electrical switch.
❖ Voltage requirements for external devices connected to the Matrox opto-coupling
module should not exceed 24 V.
❖ The Matrox opto-coupling module has been designed for the integrated-unit
version of Matrox 4Sight-II, and is normally sold with this version only. However,
if you need to use this module with the motherboard-only version of
Matrox 4Sight-II, please contact Matrox to obtain important installation
specifications and instructions.

Matrox frame grabbers

You can purchase either a Matrox Orion module for 4Sight-II or a Matrox
Meteor-II frame grabber for your unit.
The Matrox Orion modules for 4Sight-II capture images and send data along the
video input port (VIP) bus, to the Matrox G450 graphics controller, which
displays the image and/or sends the image data to Host memory, along the AGP
bus.
The Matrox Orion modules for 4Sight-II are currently available in three versions:
• /Standard. The Matrox Orion /Standard for 4Sight-II captures composite (CVBS)
and component (Y/C) video in NTSC or PAL format, with square-pixel
resolutions. It also accepts monochrome video in RS-170/CCIR format.
