I/O Device Configuration submenu

• Serial port A:
This item allows you to enable or disable serial port A (the top serial port).
By selecting Disabled, the serial port is not configured and is turned off. It also

frees up IRQ 4
and I/O addresses 3F8h to 3FFh. By selecting Enabled, the port
is turned on, but requires you to enter the base I/O address and interrupt number.
The available base addresses and interrupt numbers will be displayed. By selecting
Auto, the BIOS configures the serial port's base address and interrupt number
during POST.

This item allows you to enable or disable serial port B (the bottom serial port).
By selecting Disabled, the serial port is not configured and is turned off. It also
frees up IRQ 3 and I/O addresses 2F8h to 2FFh. By selecting Enabled, the port
is turned on, but requires you to enter the base I/O address and interrupt number.
The available base addresses and interrupt numbers will be displayed. By selecting
Auto, the BIOS configures the serial port's base address and interrupt number
during POST.
1. IRQ line 4 cannot be used on the ISA bus.
