2. Attach the 44-pin connector to the ATA-44 connector.
3. Attach the 40-pin connector to the 40-pin ATA connector on the device.
4. Attach the accessory power cable between the power-input connector on your IDE
device, and the power-supply connector on the motherboard.
The voltages that can be drawn from the 4-pin power plug on the motherboard
are outlined in the Motherboard section of Technical reference. If the IDE device
you are connecting requires more power than that specified in the table, use an
external power supply. If you do not, you will risk damaging the motherboard.
If you want to connect two, 40-pin connector, IDE devices to the primary or
secondary ATA-44 connector, you will need the following items:
• A flat-ribbon cable with 44-pin, IDC, female connectors on each side.
• A flat-ribbon cable that has three, 40-pin, IDC, female connectors.
• A 44-to-40-pin flat ribbon cable adapter.
• A custom power cable. The accessory power cable provided by Matrox will not be
adequate, as it has been designed for use by a single device only.
