Input channels

The number of available input channels depends on which module you are using:

• Matrox Orion /Standard for 4Sight-II can switch between twelve independent

monochrome, twelve composite, or six Y/C cameras, with square-pixel resolutions.

Note that you can only acquire video from one source at a time.

• Matrox Orion /Dual for 4Sight-II can switch between up to 24 independent

monochrome, 24 composite, or 12 Y/C cameras with square-pixel resolutions.

Two independent digitizer paths allow you to acquire video from two sources at

a time.

With either module, you can also switch between any combination of the three

supported video inputs. To switch between video sources of the same type, use the

MIL/MIL-Lite MdigChannel() function.

Since the Matrox Orion /Dual for 4Sight-II has two decoders, you can grab video

data from two channels simultaneously; however, to do so requires allocating two

digitizers with MdigAlloc(), and using the appropriate channels with

MdigChannel().

The ADV7185 video decoder on both modules features internal filtering and

automatic gain control, in addition to digitizing video. The Matrox Orion /Dual

for 4Sight-II features two such decoders.

The video decoder on both modules features automatic gain control (AGC). This

allows the video signal input range to be optimized as it passes through the

digitizer.

You can however, disable the AGC and set the gain manually, using the

MdigControl() function, with

The multi-standard video decoder is used to convert analog composite (CVBS)

and component (Y/C) video in NTSC/PAL format, to digitized video in YUV

4:2:2 packed format (YUYV), in accordance with the 8-bit CCIR 656 standard.

The incoming analog signals are digitized into 10 bits per pixel. However, only

the 8 most-significant bits are actually used.
