Underlay/overlay capabilities

Using the 32 Mbyte frame buffer, the Matrox G450 chip can allocate both an
overlay and underlay frame buffer surface. It can then combine these frame buffers
to display a live video window on your Windows desktop with non-destructive
annotations.
In addition, the Matrox G450 controller performs Chroma keying, which allows
for non-destructive graphics overlay on a static image or live video.

Encoder

Also driven by the Matrox G450 secondary CRT controller, an integrated
TV/video encoder provides an additional video output with software-emulated
overlay, to devices such as an NTSC/PAL/RGB TV or VCR.
The video encoder can be programmed to output composite (CVBS) and
component (Y/C) video in NTSC/PAL formats. It can also output component
RGB video with the same resolution and refresh rate as video in NTSC/PAL
formats.
To output to a display device using the encoder, you must insert the appropriate
MIL/MIL-Lite coding into your application.

TMDS transmitter

To output data to a digital display, the Matrox G450 graphics controller uses
transition minimized differential signaling (TMDS) through the digital visual
interface (DVI).
Digital displays connect to the DVI-compliant digital VGA connector, and are
configured as the primary display.
