Fig. 3: High reliability at a high dB-value
The thresholds for sorting-out can be set in three / five levels (from software version 10-1.04):
Thresholds for sorting-out
very good
satisfactory
If the measured dB value falls below the value for the selected stage, the message "critical
detection" is displayed and the signal "reduced detection capability" is set to sort out the tube.
It must therefore be concluded that there are different tube classes. Tubes with clearly detectable
weld seams generate high dB values; poorly detectable weld seams generate low dB values.

Weld Seam Detection System R4000 SND40
for Tubes, Cans and Drums
Important:
The plant must sort out tubes if the dB value is too low!
Nominal value of
signal/noise ratio
ultra
larger 18 dB (factor 8:1)
extra
larger 12 dB (factor 4:1)
larger 6 dB (factor 2:1)
good
larger 2.5dB (factor 1,33:1)
larger 1.1dB (factor 1,14:1)
Note:
Setting the sort-out threshold to the levels extra or ultra may lead to an extremely
large amount of discarded tubes.
