INSPECTIONS
The lubricating oil system includes two overflow valves, namely :
--
Safety overflow valve
--
Pressure regulating valve (after the lubricating oil filter, setting +3 bar)
One side of the overflow valve is exposed to the lubricating oil pressure, while a spring
force acts on the other. As long as the spring force exceeds the force exerted by the
oil pressure, the valve remains closed. If the latter force becomes greater than the
spring force, the valve will open and release the oil into the oil sump.
1. 1. Close the valve of the lubricating oil tank, (if applied).
1. 2. Drain the lubricating oil through the drain plug in the lubricating oil thermostat
housing.
1. 3. Turn the springholder out of the thermostatic housing and remove the valve.
1. 4. Check the sealing ring. Renew if necessary.
1. 5. Check the valve for fretting and other
flaws.
If necessary, polish the
surface with a fine emery cloth and
clean it.
1. 6. Check that the valve operates
smoothly. Renew any worn parts if
necessary.
