Before starting work please, consult:
-- chapter 2, " BACKGROUND INFORMATION".
The air distributor disc takes care that pilot air flows to the starting valve of the cylinder
just starting its firing stroke.
The air distributor disk is driven by the camshaft by means of a distributor shaft, the
direction of rotation is the same as the direction of rotation of the engine.
1. 1. Disconnect the air supply line E to the
cover of the starting air distributor.
1. 2. Remove cover A and the gasket.
1. 3. Pull the distributor shaft B, complete
with nut, distributor disc and driver,
out of the distributor housing.
1. 4. Remove the dowel pin C from the
driver D and distributor shaft.
1. 5. Fit the new driver with a new dowel
pin.
1. 6. Place the distributor shaft, complete
with nut, distributor disc and driver,
into the distributor housing.
Attention!
There
should
between the distributor disc and the
distributor housing. If there is any
clearance,
turn
distributor shaft 180G.
The driver recesses "x" and "y" have
different lengths.
Turn the flywheel to 5G past top dead centre of e.g. cylinder 1. The first part of the slot
in the distributor disc should be 1/3 open to the air passage to cylinder 1 in the
distributor housing. Mind the direction of rotation!
If the setting is not correct see point 3.
Example of a 6 cylinder engine.
