16K FITTING PISTON AND CONNECTING ROD
3. Fitting the connecting rod:
3. 1. Fit the support strip B, to the cylinder block using the bolts.
3. 2. Lower the piston and connecting rod until the hoisting ring comes to rest on the
piston ring strap clamp.
3. 3. Position the holder G, with lever E, in the connecting rod foot.
3. 4. Now move the weight of the connecting rod assembly onto the holder and lever.
3. 5. Slacken one of the hoisting ring fixing bolts slightly and lower the assembly it
rests on the crank pin journal.
3. 6. Check that the upper bearing shell beds down properly on the crank pin and that
the positioning lug of the bearing engages with the slot.
3. 7. Remove the holding down plugs from the connecting rod foot.
3. 8. Fit the connecting rod cap. For instructions see section 16D.
3. 9. Remove the support strip.
4. Fit the cylinder head. See section 18C.
5. Pre--lubricate the engine and check if the connecting rod and gudgeon pin bearing
is getting oil.
6. Fit the crankcase covers.
