FUEL REQUIREMENTS

FUEL REQUIREMENTS
The MDO fuel that will be delivered to the engine must meet at least the following re-
quirements:
o
-- viscosity at 40
C
-- specific mass at 15
-- water content
-- sulphur content
-- ash content
-- sedimentation
-- cetane number
-- carbon content (acc. Ramsbottom)
-- flashpoint
-- pout point, upper
The above specifications also conform to :
-- Cimax --1990: DX, DA and DB ;
-- ISO 8217 F--DMX, DMA and DMB ;
-- (BSMA 100:1989 class M2).
If you want to use a fuel which does not meet the requirements, please consult
Stork--Wärtsilä Diesel.
All fuel supplied to the engine must be properly cleaned from solid particles and water.

-- It is possible that some fuels contain ceresines, which, at a temperature below

C, change into solid particles. The fuel filter can become clogged with these
particles within a very short period of time. The best solution for this problem is
to heat up the fuel to minimum 50
-- The values of the requirements are tested according to ASTM test methods.
-- If a fuel is bunkered with a water content higher then 0.2 % the water must be
separated from the fuel.
