COMBUSTION AIR REQUIREMENTS

COMBUSTION AIR REQUIREMENTS
The combustion air must meet the following requirements:
-- it must be sufficient free of:
-- dust ;
-- fluid ;
-- chemical pollution.
-- maximum resistance of the inlet system before the
turbocharger(s)
-- maximum resistance of the exhaust system
directly after the turbocharger(s)
-- receiver temperature
-- maximum exhaust gas temperature after
the cylinder
-- Barometric pressure
-- Inlet air temperature
-- Relative humidity at 298 K
-- Resistance of the inlet system before
the turbocharger(s)
-- Receiver temperature
When the values of the reference conditions deviate, derate the output according to:
o
-- 0.4% per
C inlet air temperature above the maximum ;
o
-- 0.4% per
C receiver temperature above the maximum ;
o
-- 0.4% per
C inlet air temperature below the minimum ;
Attention!
When adjusted reference specifications are provided and any values deviate from that
reference specification, the maximum engine output should be reduced according to
the above values.
Reduction of the pressure in the receiver can be caused by:
-- contamination of the compressor and the turbine of the turbocharger;
-- contamination of the air intake filter;
-- contamination of the air cooler ;
-- Receiver draining not set properly.
This causes a rise in exhaust gas temperatures and engine parts.
Thermal overload can occur:
-- if the receiver pressure drops ca. 0,2 bar lower than the value mentioned in the
test report. (maximum rpm and maximum setting of the H.P. fuel pumps);
-- and/or exceeding of the maximum exhaust gas temperature.
Reduce the load of the engine until the maximum exhaust temperatures are gained.
