CYLINDER LINER
15B 15B INSPECTION INSPECTION
Before starting work, please consult:
-- chapter 2, "BACKGROUND INFORMATION" ;
-- chapter 3, "TECHNICAL DATA".
The use of an endoscope takes some practice and experience. In most cases, it is
rather difficult to interpret correctly the pattern observed.
Therefore, it is recommended to have endoscope inspections carried out by service
engineers of Stork Wärtsilä Diesel.
The cylinder liner can be inspecteded visually without removing the cylinderhead,by
using an endoscope.
The cylinder liner can be inspected through the nozzle hole in the cylinder head, from
which the nozzle with holder must first be removed.
For removal and refitting the nozzle with holder see chapter 17.
Inspect the cylinder liner for the following points :
-- scratches ;
-- honing pattern ;
-- burnt spots ;
-- lacquer formation ;
-- shiny stains or bands ;
-- carbon deposits inside the combustion chamber.
