3. Setting the
distributor disc

STARTING AIR DISTRIBUTOR
2. 1. Fit the cover, using a new gasket.
2. 2. Connect the air supply line to the cover of the starting air distributor.
3. 1. Turn the flywheel to 5G past the top dead centre of e.g. cylinder 1.
3. 2. Unscrew the air supply line to the cover of the starting air distributor.
3. 3. Remove the cover and gasket.
3. 4. Pull the distributor shaft, complete with nut, distributor disc and driver, out of
the distributor housing.
3. 5. Loosen the nut by a few turns.
Pay attention to the type of thread, in connection with the direction of
rotation.
Look at the final digit on the rating plate of the starting air distributor.
1 = left--hand thread
2 = right--hand thread
3. 6. Tap the end of the distributor shaft with a plastic hammer to separate the
distributor disc from the conical part.
3. 7. Tighten the nut manually, but not too tightly, so that the distributor disc can
still turn on the shaft.
3. 8. Place the distributor shaft, complete with nut, distributor disc and driver, into
the distributor housing.
There should be no clearance between the distributor disc and the
distributor housing.
If there is any clearance, turn the complete distributor shaft 180G.
3. 9. Set the distributor disc so that the first part of the slot in the distributor disc is
1/3 open to the air passage to cylinder 1 in the distributor housing.
Pay attention to the direction of rotation!
3. 10.Tighten the nut without turning the distributor disc.
3. 11. Fit the cover with a new gasket.
3. 12.Fit the air supply line to the cover of the starting air distributor.
Example of a 6 cylinder engine.
