INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
15B o Inspect the running surface of the cylinder liners by means of an endoscope;
18--o Inspect all valves and valve seats by means of an endoscope ;
18--o Remove one cylinder head for visual inspection of the cylinder head, the valves and
the valve seats ;
18J o Remove one starting air valve for visual inspection.
16--o Remove one piston with connecting rod for visual inspection ;
16--o Remove one set of big end bearings for visual inspection ;
16--o Remove one gudgeon pin for visual inspection of the gudgeon pin bush ;
16--o Inspect 1 set of piston rings and measure the piston ring grooves.
14A o Inspect all the explosion valves on good working order ;
9C o Check the drive and performance of the starting air distributor ;
13A o Inspect the crankshaft space ;
20A o Inspect the governor drive ;
11-- o Remove one main bearing for visual inspection ;
o Check the wear and the condition of the gears in the gearbox by means of an endo-
scope ;
o Check the wear and the condition of the gears in the engine ;
18G o Check the valve clearance and adjust it if necessary.
23A o Check the foundation bolts and filling pieces underneath the engine and, if appli-
cable, the flexible elements underneath the foundation plate ;
o If applicable check the condition of the epoxy resin filling by means of checking the
measuring points;
o Check the condition of the flexible elements of the flexible coupling ;
23A o Check the engine alignment ;
23B o Measure the crankshaft deflections and measure the axial play of the crankshaft.
17--o Have all the fuel injectors overhauled ;
5D o Have one high pressure fuel pump checked and calibrated ;
o Inspect the inside of one high pressure fuel pipe on cavitation ;
o Check the fuel connecting piece of one fuel pump and replace the O--rings ;
5E o Test the constant pressure valves ;
o Check the governor and fuel rack linkage and keep it running easily ;
5C o Renew the fuel filter elements ;
5D o Check the injection moment of one fuel pump.
19--o Check the cams, rollers, roller holders and pivots visually.
