3. Verification of

injection

5D INSPECTIONS, MOMENT OF INJECTION
3. 1. Disconnect the high pressure fuel line.
3. 2. Fit the capillary tube with the union nut.
3. 3. Move the fuel pump control rod to its full load
position.
3. 4. Turn the crankshaft until the crank of the
relevant cylinder is at 30
compression stroke.
3. 5. Turn the crankshaft in the direction of rotation
untill the fuel is seen to rise in the capillary tube
(without air bubbles). This means that the fuel
passages in the constant pressure valve are
filled with fuel.
3. 6. Turn the crankshaft back (against the direction
of rotation) until the crank of the relevant
cylinder is positioned at least 30
3. 7. Turn the crankshaft slowly in the direction of
rotation and stop turning as soon as the fuel
rises in the capillary tube. At this point the
effective compression stroke begins. On the
flywheel the moment of injection can be found
and read off in crank degrees.
For the correct moment of injection see the value specified in the test bed report. The
tolerance allowed for the setting is  1
