FUEL SYSTEM
5A INTRODUCTION
The main components of the fuel injector are:
-- nozzle holder ;
-- nozzle.
The nozzles are of the "multihole type" and actuated
by the fuel pressure.
For maintenance, testing and adjusting of the open-
ing pressure, see chapter 17.
The pressure regulating valve, placed at the end of the main fuel line, keeps the fuel
pressure constant, namely about 1.5 bar.
The leak--off fuel coming from the nozzles is drained to the clean leak--off fuel tank.
The quantity mainly depends on the number of service hours of the nozzle tip, but the
quantity of the leak--off fuel is not indicative of the quality of the nozzles.
The leak--off fuel of the nozzles is drained to the clean leak--off fuel tank.
This fuel can be supplied to the day tank without treatment.
Fuel leakage from renewal of the fuel filter elements will be collected via drains and
has to be stored in a dirty--oil tank (2.3).
