CYLINDER LINER

REMOVAL
Before starting work, please consult:
-- chapter 2, "BACKGROUND INFORMATION" ;
-- chapter 3, "TECHNICAL DATA".
1. Remove the cylinder head. See section
18B.
2. Remove the piston and connecting rod
assembly. See section 16E.
3. Removal cylinder liner:
3. 1. Place the upper flange on the
cylinder liner top edge.
3. 2. Fit the lower flange with the
threaded rod and nut M30 and
screw the second nut onto the top
of the threaded rod.
3. 3. Protect the crankpin and provide
in the crankcase a facility allowing
any residual cooling water or dirt
to be collected.
3. 4. Screw the eye nut onto the
threaded rod and hoist the liner
out of the cylinder block.
It may be necessary to use a
bridge piece over the cylinder
head studs as shown, to loosen
the cylinder liner. This is not a
standard delivery tool.
4. Clean and inspect the cooling water jacket.
