CENTRIFUGAL FILTER

CENTRIFUGAL FILTER
The use of the centrifugal filter increases the lifetime of the filter elements.
The working of the filter is based on centrifugal
force.
The engine lubricating oil is pumped into the
filter through passage "x" and passes upwards
through the hollow shaft before flowing into the
rotor.
The rotor rotates by means of the reaction force
of the oil jet coming from two nozzles in the
rotator bottom. The rotor rotates at high speed,
throwing particles of dirt outwards against the
inserted filter paper. The filtered oil flows
through the holes in the stand-pipe to the
nozzles and then back into the sump.
With the engine running, close the valve in the supply line to the centrifugal filter.
For disassembly see the exploded view of the centrifugal filter on page 6--8.
2. 1. Remove clamp A.
2. 2. Remove filter cover B.
2. 3. Lift the complete rotor and allow the oil to leak into the filter housing.
2. 4. Remove the complete rotor.
2. 5. Removing the insert paper:
-- Remove nut C and remove the hollow shaft from the rotor ;
-- Place the rotor on 2 blocks of wood ;
-- Pull the rotor housing loose from the cover ;
-- Remove the inserted filter paper together with
the compressed dirt particles.
With the engine running, close the valve in the supply line to the centrifugal filter.
For assembly see the exploded view of the centrifugal filter on page 6--8.
3. 1. Clean all parts carefully.
3. 2. Check whether the nozzles in the rotor housing are open.
3. 3. Check whether the passage in the hollow shaft is free of dirt, and check the
bearing journals for wear or damage.
3. 4. Remove the reducing valve D from the filter housing, clean it and check
whether it can be moved freely. Re--assemble it.
