INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
3. 1. Make sure that all parts are carefully cleaned (free of carbon deposit) before
mounting. Do not use cotton waste for cleaning the inside of the engine but
always use lint free cleaning rags.
3. 2. For the prescribed glues, lubricants, sealants, see the parts catalogue.
Never use other lubricants when tightening bolt connections of engine
components than those prescribed. If other lubricants are used there is a risk
that the tightening torque, will strongly differ from the one required.
3. 3. Before fitting spare parts which are available as complete sub--assemblies,
all "O"--rings in these assemblies must be inspected on ageing and damage
and replaced if necessary.
3. 4. In general all piping should be carefully cleaned before installing. New fuel,
lubricating oil and air pipe lines should be acid cleaned and neutralized. This
must also be done after heating jobs have been carried out on the piping
mentioned, to remove any iron oxidation.

3. 5. Fit all piping stress free.
4. 1. If upon a check, investigation, control or what so ever the engine shows a
deviation. This deviation first should be corrected. It is to the owners
responsibility to decided to take or keep the engine in operation depending to
the deviation found.
4. 2. It is important after any assembling work to make sure that no tools, parts or
other foreign matters have been left in or on the engine and that all parts
have been thoroughly cleaned before closing the crankcase covers,
camshaft covers and other covers and before starting the engine.
4. 3. Due to the compression ability of some gasket material the pre--stress of
some flange connections should be checked after 24 hours of operation.
