27. Fit the ESI probe to the source enclosure (see
28. Use the nebulizer adjuster knob to fine tune the capillary length for your application (see
the instrument's online Help file).
7.18 Cleaning the IonSABRE II probe tip
Clean the IonSABRE II probe tip when you detect buffer buildup on the probe tip or when the
signal intensity weakens. See the mass spectrometer's online Help for further details.
To clean the IonSABRE II probe tip:
1. Stop all liquid flow through the probe, and then start the API gas flow.
2. Set Desolvation Gas to 650 L/h.
3. Set IonSABRE II probe Temp to 650 °C.
4. Put the instrument into Operate.
5. Wait 10 minutes.
Rationale:
contamination from the probe tip.
6. Put the instrument into Source Standby.
7.19 Replacing the IonSABRE II probe sample capillary
Replace the stainless steel sample capillary in the IonSABRE II probe if it becomes blocked and
you cannot clear it, or if it becomes contaminated or damaged.
7.19.1 Removing the existing capillary
Required materials
• Chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves
• Combined 2.5-mm hex wrench and cone extraction tool
• 7-mm open-end wrench
To remove the existing capillary:
Warning:
To avoid personal contamination with biologically hazardous, toxic, and corrosive
materials, wear chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves when performing this procedure.
The high temperature of the IonSABRE II probe heater removes any chemical
