6. Power-on the ACQUITY instruments.
Result:
Each system instrument runs a series of startup tests.
7. Wait four minutes for the PC to initialize.
Tip:
The power and status LEDs change as follows:
• During initialization, the status LEDs of the binary solvent manager and the sample
manager each flash green.
• After the instruments successfully power-on, all power LEDs show steady green. The
binary solvent manager's flow LED, the sample manager's run LED, and the mass
spectrometer's status LED remain off.
8. Start the software by following the appropriate step:
• To start the MassLynx software, from the workstation PC desktop, double-click the
MassLynx icon.
• To start the UNIFI 1.9.4 software, from the workstation PC desktop, double-click the
UNIFI icon, and then log in.
• To start the waters_connect UNIFI software, from the workstation PC desktop, double-
click the waters_connect HUB icon, log in, and then click UNIFI.
9. Monitor the software's instrument console for messages and LED indications.
Tip:
• In UNIFI, to access the instrument console from the main page, click My Work >
Instrument Systems, double-click the relevant system, and then click the Xevo G2-XS
QTof.
• In MassLynx, to access the instrument console from the main page, click MS Console
on the left-hand side.
10. Wait for the instrument to reach the correct vacuum pressure. If you are using the UNIFI
software, the Instrument Setup function becomes available on the Setup panel of the
Console page when the instrument reaches the correct pressure.
Note:
If the instrument was vented for longer than one hour, it can take several hours to
reach the correct pressure.
11. Click Operate
Result:
When the mass spectrometer is in good operating condition, IntelliStart software
displays the status Ready in the instrument console. UNIFI software displays the status
Running in the Instrument Summary pane.
Note:
To avoid damaging the iKey separation device (where fitted), set the capillary
voltage to zero when you leave the mass spectrometer in Operate and solvent is not
flowing.
