1.9 Removing and installing extended rear
window (Spacebook)
WARNING
It is essential to wear protective goggles and gloves when cut‐
ting hardened PUR adhesive sealing material and when han‐
dling the cutting cord.
Removing undamaged side window
– Protect vehicle interior from glass splinters.
– Removing top trim panel for tailgate

– Remove glass pieces up to the glue sealing material.
– Cover the painted surfaces along the window with textile ad‐
hesive tape.
– Connections for heatable rear window and rear window aerials
(depending on the equipment installed in the vehicle) ⇒ Elec‐
trical system; Rep. gr. 91 .
– Remove rear window wiper ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 92 .
– To cut the window, use an electrical cutting device, e.g. -V.A.G
1561/A- or a pneumatic cutting device, e.g. -VAS 5177- , cut‐
ting thread - 357 853 999 B- or cutting cord - 357 845 955- or
separating device e.g. -V.A.G 1474 A- .
– Cut back adhesive cement to a thickness of approx. 1 mm.
