Seat belts

1.1 Removing and installing the front seat
belts
Removing
WARNING
♦ Observe the general safety instructions for working on air‐
bag, belt tensioner and battery separation units (pyrotech‐
nical components)

♦ Observe the special instructions for the belt tensioner
⇒ "2.2 Special instructions for the belt tensioner",
page 223 .
– Disconnect the vehicle battery ⇒ Electrical System; Rep. gr.
27 ; disconnect and connect the battery .
– Remove the trim panels of the B pillar
⇒ "3.4 Removing and installing top B-pillar trim panel",
page 266 .
– Unclip the door sill panel towards the top out of the front side
rail.
– Unclip the door sill panel until the screw of the automatic belt
retractor can be reached.
– Unscrew the screw -1- (40 Nm) and release the belt deflection
fitting -2- from the seat belt height adjustment.
– Pull the seat belt deflection -1- out of the tab -2-.
– Guide the seat belt -3- out of the seat belt deflection -1-.
WARNING
When installing, the seat belt deflection -1- must lock audibly
into the tab -2-!
