Problem
The system has very high
backpressure at the column
and pump.
The temperature does not
change for some time
although the temperature set
point has not been reached.
Leakage at the pre-column
heater.
Leakage at the post-column
cooler
Impaired performance of the
pre-column heater.
Operating Instructions
TCC-3000SD and TCC-3000RS Column Compartments
Probable Cause
The column is contaminated or
blocked.
The ambient temperature is too
high or the set point is lower than
the specified difference to the
ambient temperature.
The ventilation slots on the TCC
are obstructed.
The front panel door of the TCC
is not completely closed.
The capillaries are placed in such
a manner that ambient air can
enter the column chamber.
Temperature control is turned off.
(The following information
appears on the status screen:
Setpoint: Off.)
The TCC door seal is damaged.
The fittings at the pre-column
heater are not tightened correctly.
The fittings on the post-column
cooler are not tightened correctly.
The flow path is not correct.
The pre-column heater is not
installed correctly, that is, the
thermal contact is imperfect.
The calibration of the TCC is
incorrect.
The pre-column heater is
defective.
UltiMate 3000 Series:
Remedial Action
Rinse or replace the column.
Reduce the ambient
temperature (for example, by
ventilating the room).
Make sure that the ventilation
slots are not obstructed in any
way.
To close, push the door
upward forcefully if
necessary.
Verify that the capillaries are
routed correctly through the
guides on the sides of the
column chamber and/or rest
flat on the edge of the
enclosure (→ Tips in
section 4.2, page 46).
In Chromeleon, check and
change the TempCtrl setting
if necessary. (TempCrtl = on
turns temperature control on.)
Contact Service.
Tighten the fittings on the
pre-column heater inlet and
outlet.

Tighten the fittings on the
post-column cooler inlet and
outlet. Install a new post-
column cooler insert.
Check and correct the flow
path, if necessary.
Reinstall the pre-column
heater.
Contact Service.
Replace the pre-column
heater.
