Configuring an internal diagnostic test (IDT)

To configure a line for internal diagnostic testing, set the idt-enable parameter to yes
and set the idt-num-of-msg parameter to specify the number of test messages to be
sent. For example:
admin> read line-diag {1 1 1}
LINE-DIAG/{ shelf-1 slot-1 1 } read
admin> list
[in LINE-DIAG/{ shelf-1 slot-1 1 }]
admin> set idt-enable = yes
admin> set idt-num-of-msg = 1000
admin> write
8-18
Specifies
has not expired. This parameter reports one of the following
states:
waiting-for-511-sync—Waiting for remote
synchronization before starting the BERT.
local-loop-active
loopback and is running the test. No remote device is
involved.
active
BERT is running with the remote device.
stopped
BERT was disabled.
loop-back-setup
The interface is being put into analog
loopback.
start-up
BERT is starting up.
Number of bit errors counted by BERT.
Whether an internal diagnostic test is active on the line.
(This parameter is read-only.)
stopped (default)—The test is inactive.
active—The line is undergoing internal diagnostic
testing.
Number of messages sent from the interfaces to the internal
control module hardware. (This parameter is read-only.)
Number of messages received by the internal control
module hardware. (This parameter is read-only.)
Number of erroneous messages received by the internal
control module hardware. (This parameter is read-only.)
The interface is in local analog
