Installing a Stinger MRT

Identifying and installing mounting brackets

Optional mounting hardware is also available for mounting the Stinger MRT 23
chassis vertically between mounting rails spaced 19 inches (48.26cm) apart. The
Stinger MRT 23 and Stinger MRT 19 chassis can also be mounted on a wall, or
positioned on a flat surface as free-standing units. For more information on these
types of installations, contact your Lucent Technologies sales representative.

Mounting brackets for the Stinger MRT 23

Standard mounting brackets and multi-position brackets are available for mounting
the Stinger MRT 23 in 23-inch wide racks with holes spaced 1.252 inches (31.8mm)
or 0.984 inches (25mm) apart.

Standard mounting brackets

The Stinger MRT 23 can be mounted horizontally in a 23-inch wide-rack, using
chassis mounting points at the front or midpoint of the Stinger MRT 23 chassis. Two
paris of mounting brackets and four 8-32 1/4 inch screws are supplied with the
Stinger MRT 23 unit. One pair of brackets has standard vertical spacing of 1.252
inches (31.8mm) between the rack mounting holes. (See Figure 3-1) The other pair
has vertical spacing of 0.894 inch (25mm) between the rack mounting holes to
provide flexibility in racks that have mounting holes with staggered spacing. The
supplied screws are used to attach the brackets to the Stinger MRT 23 chassis.

Note
The rack-mount spacing meets IEC 297-2 and ANSI/EI ARS-310-C standards.

Multi-position brackets

The multi-position brackets have three pairs of mounting holes that can be aligned
with the front or mid-point mounts on the Stinger MRT 23 chassis. The
multi-position brackets are also known as adjustable brackets, because they allow the
position of the unit to be adjusted forward or backward in the equipment rack. This
allows the Stinger MRT to be positioned to accommodate variable spacing
requirements encountered in outdoor cabinet installations. The brackets can also be
installed in a forward or rear facing position, depending on the desired position of the
chassis.
