2.5.2 Configuring RIP to Advertise Default Routes

A default route is a route destined for 0.0.0.0. By default, RIP does not advertise default routes
to its neighbors.
Context
Do as follows on the RIP switch:
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
rip [ process-id ]
The RIP process is enabled and the RIP view is displayed.
Step 3 Run:
default-route originate [ cost cost | { { match default | route-policy route-policy-
name } [
RIP is configured to generate a default route only if route permitted by the route policy is present
as active in the routing table.

2.5.3 Disabling an Interface from Sending Update Packets

Disabling interfaces from sending Update packets is a method of preventing routing loops and
can be implemented in two ways.
