8.10 Configuring a BGP4+ Peer Group

By configuring a BGP4+ peer group, you can simplify the management of routing policies, and
thus improve the efficiency of route advertisement.

8.10.1 Establishing the Configuration Task

Before configuring a BGP4+ peer group, familiarize yourself with the applicable environment,
complete the pre-configuration tasks, and obtain the required data. This can help you complete
the configuration task quickly and accurately.
Applicable Environment
A great number of peers exist in a large-scale BGP4+ network, which is not convenient for
configuration and maintenance. In this case, you can configure peer groups to simplify the
management and improve the efficiency of route advertisement. According to the AS where the
peers reside, you can classify peer groups into IBGP peer groups and EBGP peer groups. You
can classify EBGP peer groups into pure EBGP peer groups and mixed EBGP peer groups. This
classification is performed according to the position of the peers in the same external AS.
